                              Version 1.00

                 ISDN CAPI 1.1 based Answering Machine
                     for OS/2 Presentation Manager

  Introduction:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
   After two months of beta-testing we are happy to release Version 1.00
   of CapiTel. A lot of things have changed, especially if you take a
   look at the user interface. The ISDN modules also have been improved
   during the last two months. Thanks to all the users who sent us their
   bug reports and feature ideas, do not stop with your feedback!
   A special thanks goes to the following people:
     - Kerstin Glodzinski
     - Norbert Schulze
     - Kolja Nowak
  Installation:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
   The installation is easy. Just unzip the complete distribution archive
   into the desired destination directory and run INSTALL.CMD.
   This REXX script will create a CapiTel object on your Desktop.

   Note: If you are going to create CapiTel objects on your own, do not
         forget to set the "Working Directory" !

   If you have the OS/2 Multimedia Package MMPM/2 installed, you can play
   the recorded calls from the PM interface directly. If you don't have
   MMPM/2 installed, you still can use CapiTel. But the Play-Option for
   calls, of course, won't work.

  Configuration:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Go to the Settings-Notebook, which can be found in the General menu.
   There you will find the following tabs:
   General: - Generate 16-Bit 44KHz .WAV Files?
              Mark the checkbox if your soundcard supports this.
            - Prompt for Call-Deletion?
              Mark the checkbox if you want to be asked before
              CapiTel deletes a call.
            - Answering Delay
              Specify the delay (in seconds) before CapiTel answers
              a call.
   EAZ:     - Mark the checkboxes of the EAZ's you want to be serviced.
              If you are using EuroISDN (DSS1), do not forget to map
              your MSN's to EAZ's. See the manual of your ISDN card for
              further information.
   Ports:   - Here you can define a description and a PCM file for each
              EAZ. The description will be shown if a call is detected
              on the appropriate EAZ. An EAZ specific PCM file can be
              played, provide the filename here. You can use '*' to use
              the default welcome text (WELCOME.PCM).
              Click the right mouse button on an entry and you will be
              able to edit it.
   People:  - Here you can specify a name and a PCM file for any phone
              number you want. The name will be shown if a call is
              detected on the appropriate number. A caller specific
              PCM file can be played as well. Use '*' to use the
              default welcome text (WELCOME.PCM).
              Click the right mouse button on the container to get a small
              popup-menu. There you will be able to add, remove or edit
              entries.
   Use "Save" to save the new settings, or "Cancel" to discard them.
   A note about the EAZ/caller specific PCM files:
   If you specify a PCM file for a caller, it takes precedence over the
   PCM file you might have defined for an EAZ. If you use '*' as PCM file
   for a caller, and an EAZ specific PCM file, the latter will be used
   instead of the default WELCOME.PCM.
  Usage:
  ~~~~~
   The most important part of the CapiTel main window is the container. There
   you will see all incoming calls. The fields are self explanatory. You may
   throw colours and fonts into the main window, they will be stored.

   If you are using CapiTel with hidden controls, you can access the various
   menu functions with the popup menu you get when you click with your
   right mouse button on the container. The window can be moved by dragging
   the sizing border with the right mouse button pressed.

   Use the "Record" option to record a new welcome text. A dialog will pop
   up asking you for a filename. WELCOME.PCM is the default. You can use
   the created PCM files in the EAZ and People tabs of the Settings-Notebook.

  Some Requests:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   - CapiTel has been successfully tested with:
       + ELSA CAPI (all versions)
       + Teles CAPI (Version 2.97 and some other versions)
     Please let us know if you are running CapiTel on other ISDN boards,
     so we can add them to our compatibility list.
   - If you are willing to set up an Internet mailing list for CapiTel
     on your machine, we would be glad to hear from you.
   - If you are living in America and use CapiTel, please inform us
     about your experiences. We are looking for technical details.
  Our plans:
  ~~~~~~~~~
   - We are still working on the DTMF Decoding and on the feature to
     use .WAV files as welcome texts directly.

   - Additional textmode version

   - EAZ and Calling-Party specific answering delay

  Known Bugs:
  ~~~~~~~~~~
   Before using CapiTel in business, goverment or similar environments,
   be aware of the following bugs:
  Registration:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
   CapiTel is Shareware. After a testing period of 60 days you have
   to register it, otherwise it will _stop_ working.

   See ORDER.TXT for ordering details.

  License Agreement:
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
