Introduction
============

BBase7 allows you to keep track of the contents of your
email and to locate those elusive messages that are hard
to find. Currently, it supports email from Netscape, MS
Internet Mail and Eudora Lite.

You may start BBase7 as you start any other Windows
program. The databases created by BBase7 terminate in
the extension BRS - these files may be associated with
BBase7.EXE so that clicking on the database starts the
application BBase7.

BBase7 is designed to use very little memory (RAM and
disk) and to run extremely fast. Typically, a BBase7
database requires between 1% and 10% of the space
occupied by the email files.

Updates
=======

There are 2 versions of BBase7 currently available -
the 16-bit version for Windows 3.x and the 32-bit
version for Windows 95 and Windows NT. Both versions
are downloadable from http://www.ndirect.co.uk/~bibo

Importing data
==============

You can create a BBase7 database by importing Netscape,
MS Internet Mail or Eudora Lite files. Once these files
have been imported, you may do your searches to recover
the information that you require. The database may be
saved for later use and periodically updated with the
latest version of your email files.

Exporting data
==============

Those who have paid the trivial sum of 16 dollars, or
equivalent, may export messages. Files containing these
exported messages may be imported into applications such
as MS Access, dBase, Paradox and Oracle. A typical
MS Access application is included so that you have an
example of what is possible to achieve. Anyone may
send us improved applications (16 or 32-bit versions)
for examination, if they are considered good, they will
be included for distribution. In return, the person
submitting such an application will be given one free
registration on a computer of his/her choice.

Selecting data
==============

You may select messages by:

 - date
 - sender
 - receiver
 - subject
 - contents

You are stongly advised to select by content only after
the previous search-criteria have been exhaused -
searching by content necessitates a scan of all the
selected messages.

The future
==========

BBase7 will be improved in the following ways:

 - the appearance of the user-interface will be improved.

 - proper documentation will be provided.

 - on-line help will be provided.

 - email files other than Netscape MS Internet Mail and
   Eudora Lite will be importable - for example, Pegasus.
   Other formats from America Online and Compuserve may
   also be incorporated if the demand manifests itself.

 - BBase7 will be able to update files automatically as
   a background task.
