INTRODUCTION:

Summer Encounter is the danish demoscene party of 1995.

The party is a purely non-commercial party, organized for
the gathering of all demoscene freaks, primarily from Denmark.
The prices might not be incredible, but atleast no company is
making any profit from it either. We wont try to hide that
this is not a huge and incredible party, but we are certain
that we are going to have more fun than any other party! :)

Summer Encounter '95 will be held i Scandinavia's smallest
conference center. A bit less central than the TP4 center(?)
    but still in Denmark :)

The party starts Thursday 27 of July at 15:00 o'clock to
    Sunday 30 of July at 10:00 o'clock.

HOW TO GET THERE:

We assume everybody knows where Randers, Denmark is?! (You will be
able to find it on any decent roadmap, without problems)

So we'll just give you directions from there. If you have trouble
getting here, you can use the E-busses (E-BUS) or go by train.

BUS:
----
If you get to Randers by bus, you will arrive at Randers bus
terminal. Here you can catch bus number 238 and then you have
to get of in Harridslev. From here you'll have to walk approx.
400m to the party place. Sorry we couldn't arrange any other
    kind of transportation.
We have included a map of Harridslev (MAP_2.GIF), so you can
see which direction you're supposed to walk. We'll setup some
    party signs too.

CAR:
----
People who will be joining us by car will have to take a look at
MAP_1.GIF first, this is a road-map of the Randers area. It shows
how you get from Randers to Harridslev. When at Harridslev, look
    at MAP_2.GIF for further directions.

TRAIN:
------
When you arrive at Randers train station, you will have to walk
aprox. 500m to the bridge. This is on the right, when leaving
the train station's main entrance. From the bridge, you walk
aprox. 100m to the left, where you will find the bus terminal.
    Please look at MAP_2.GIF

FERRY:
------
If you come by ferry to Grenaa or Ebeltoft you will be arriving on
the main road 16/21 when you enter the town.

MAPS:
-----

This is a fast set of directions to go with the map files.

MAP_1.GIF A map of Randers showing how to get
                    from Randers to Harridslev.
MAP_2.GIF A closeup of Haridslev, print it!

**
    Color Markings for MAP_1.GIF:

Green : The center of town, the bridge across the river, a
good point to start off from.

Yellow: The train station, about 400 meters from the bridge.
(the bus terminal is 100 meters from the bridge in
                the opposite direction)

Cyan : The motorway from Aarhus, a good thing to know, if
you come from the south (E45).

Red X : Well, X marks the spot.

FACILITIES:

 - 67 hours of activity.

 - The place holds about 175-225 people, and we have tables and
    chairs for everyone.

 - We will setup a huge Ethernet server with lots of HD space,
you can also bring your own server for faster net access.

 - There is a room for sleepers, and it's almost sound proof,
NOOOT. But who cares, We're sleeping with our PCs!

 - We hired a professional electrician, but he was electricuted.
I sure hope he finished the job. (He did!)

 - All info about the party etc. will be placed on the party
server. If we get the 2nd big screen we'll show it there too.

 - 2500 x 2000 mm high quality big screen (125"), for movies and
    competitions.

 - A decent Hi-Fi equipment for the hall, so we're sure you can
    hear the demos and music.

 - There is a cafeteria at the party place, but we don't know how
often he will keep it open. He will sell real food (not TP4
food and at TP4 prices). The cafeteria is only allowed to sell
Pepsi :(, so you'll have to bring your own Coca-Cola.
There is also a "Daugli Brougs" (danish slang 4 junk food
store :-) and a kiosk. But you'll have to walk approx. 300
    meters to get there.

 - Should you need a bath we have about 20 showers and separate
rooms for both the boys and the girl(s??).

 - RAVE-PARTY in a club 50 meters from the party place Saturday
the 29 of July. Unfortunately they have to charge you 10 DKr.
Local RAVE freaks will be joining the party too (girls?:).

ENTRANCE:

We have tried to keep the entrance fee as low as possible, but we
have a very tight budget. We'll have to charge you 100 DKr if you
pay in advance (at least 10 days) and 130 DKr at the entrance.
Visitors are welcome and they will have to pay 30 DKr/day and
    100 DKr in deposit.

You'll get 1000 x 1000 mm of table space and all the floor space
    you want.

The entrance fee will not be used for compo prices, all
of it will be used to make the party go round.

VERY IMPORTANT: BRING YOUR OWN DISK!!

Have a formatted and _errorfree_ 1.44 HD disk handy when you
arrive/pay, so that you can get the voting software, the right
to vote(!) and the needed utils to use the net, you will not be
let in without it. We are very sorry about this, but since we
have to keep the budget low, and no one seems to be interested
in sponsoring them, we need your help.

EVENTS & COMPETITIONS:

 - 3 main competitions such as:
            Combined demo/intro competition
            Music competition
            Graphics competition

 - Plenty of crazy compos such as:

            Disk Throwing Contest
We HAVE to beat the official Assembly record(!)

            Harddisk Throwing Contest
You may bring your own harddisk, we only have
a few for the competitions. Seagate wasn't that
interested in sponsoring the event :)

Real Time Monitor Relay Cross Country Run
We have got a few old defect monitors, so that
you can use one of them - if you are too chicken
                to use your own! :)

            Body Crashing Contest
Trash your body with all the disgusting food that
you can get your hands on!

            1 L Coca-Cola Drinking Contest
Let's beat those 42 secs from The Party!

            Belching Competition
Right after the Coca-Cola drinking contest :)

            Mouse Throwing Contest
Grab a mouse by its tail and throw it away :-)
No we're not using real mice :)

            Amiga Smashing Contest
Bring your own Amiga and see how fast you can smash it
(We'll time you). We have a few Amigas and we will draw
lots for them, who said "PC-ONLY"??

            OS/2 Warp CD throwing contest.
                Take that IBM!

 - A laserdisc room with a big screen and Pro Logic Surround Sound.
We've got new films, but you can also bring your own
        (VHS, S-VHS and LD).
Should you have any demos or other strange things you
would like to see on the big screen, bring them to the
entrance and we'll have a look at it.

 - Hopefully a second big screen.
If we will be able to get a second big screen, we will
use that for the competitions, so we wont have to use
the same for the movies and the compos.

NETWORK INFORMATION:

The party network server will consist of a Pentium/90 with at least
32MB ram and about 3-4GB harddisk space. The server will be like a
harddisk to you. We take no responsibility for what you might put
there (Non-PD, fish-porn and so on:).
All you need is an ethernetcard with a BNC connection and a length
of BNC cable. We will pull cables from the server to most of the
    tables.

You will get the software needed when you arrive at the party.
Our net-software will by default be installed for the L: drive.

Questions regarding the network can be addressed to:
                  Anders Eriksen, 2:238/143 (Shorty/SWAMP)

GROUP ACCESS:
-------------
If your group wants to bring a server it must be at least a 386DX40
with 4MB ram and 20MB harddisk. You do not need to bring a keyboard
nor monitor. When you are connected to our server through yours,
you will get faster/better net access.

Your server must have 2 netcards if you want faster access. One of
them _should_ have a BNC & TP (Twisted Pair) connection and the
other one is up to you. You can use whatever kind of software you
might wish to use internally (Novell, Tokenring, NWlite, Lantastic
etc.). Our supervisors will setup the software on your servers.
If you want to bring your own server you MUST let us know before
you arrive, by filling in the registration form.

RULES AT THE PARTY PLACE:

 - Alcohol and drugs are strictly forbidden. No one needs that
    crap anyway :)

 - Naturally, you will have to pay for everything you break or damage.

 - If you fuck something up, we'll fuck you and your equipment up
too! So be careful, the force is with us, ha haaaa >:-).

 - We will not accept anybody selling food, drinks, disks or
other things, except if you have arranged it with us.

 - Please use the black plastic bags around the party place, so
we don't have to spend a week of cleaning.

 - We take no responsibility for illegal swapping of software, VCR
or other bad bad things, We know that you would never do anything
    illegal, anyway....

 - No racist signs or acting, but dumping on Amiga and other
    arcade machines is ok :)

 - Please don't bring fireworks or other kinds of stupid stuff
like that! (or we will set you on fire outside:)
