                             ------------

This section of the manual gives instructions for installing ISOLAN
NDIS Drivers. You will also need to refer to the manual that
accompanies your NDIS conformant software package.

ISOLAN NDIS Drivers are provided for use with ISOLAN Controller
Cards and any NDIS conformant software packages (see below).
The drivers enable either OS/2- or DOS-based IBM PC-AT and IBM PS/2
computers (or 100% compatibles) fitted with ISOLAN Controller Cards
to access the LAN Manager software, or any other application
conforming to the NDIS 1.0 standard.

  Note
  1) The ISOLAN PC Controller Card only supports a DOS NDIS Driver.
There is no OS/2 Driver for this Card.

  2) This version of the OS/2 NDIS driver does not work with OS/2
  version 2.x.

                               -Page 2-

ISOLAN NDIS Drivers are intended for use with the following
  LAN Manager products:
LAN Manager Version 2.0 (produced by Microsoft)
Communications Manager / LAN Server Version 1.2 EE
      (produced by IBM)
Any other NDIS Version 1.0 conformant software

  ISOLAN NDIS Drivers enable:
OS/2 computers fitted with an ISOLAN AT or MCA Controller Card
and running any of the LAN Manager products listed above, to
function either as an OS/2 LAN Manager Server, an OS/2
LAN Manager Workstation or any other NDIS conformant product.
DOS computers functioning as DOS Workstations and fitted with
any ISOLAN Controller Card to communicate with a server running
one of the listed LAN Manager products or any other NDIS
      conformant product.

TERMINOLOGY
The ISOLAN NDIS Drivers are referred to as the ISOLAN Drivers
throughout this section of the manual, to avoid confusion with
other device drivers used by your LAN Manager package.

INTRODUCTION
The installation procedure for the ISOLAN Drivers can be
implemented at the time of the initial installation of LAN Manager
  or at any time thereafter.

LAN Manager's installation routine for any OS/2 server, OS/2
workstation or MS-DOS workstation will prompt the user to install
any additional drivers that may be required. At this point, the
user should place the ISOLAN Drivers Disk (Disk No. 2 if you are
using the 5.25" format disk) in the floppy drive and follow the
instructions and prompts to place the ISOLAN Driver and the Network
Information File (isolan.nif) in the correct directory on the hard
  disk.

Later in the procedure, the choice of Network Adapter will be
offered. The appropriate choice is either "ISOLAN AT - MCA" or
  "ISOLAN PC" (DOS only).

The ISOLAN details will be saved into the Installation procedure.

                               -Page 4-

At any time after the initial installation, the user may view and/
or modify his choices by using the LAN Manager SETUP utility. This
is accessed by typing the following command at the prompt
  [C:\LANMAN]:

       setup

  and pressing the RETURN key.

The screen that is displayed contains details of the choices made
during installation and subsequent modification. Other screens are
available through to the final one which gives details of your
  Network Adapter and Protocol choices.

Pressing the `Alt' key and the `A' key at the same time causes the
Action menu to drop down. From here, pressing the `M' key will give
access to the Driver Importing routine, allowing drivers, other
than those installed already, to be loaded.
If you have not done so already, you should import the ISOLAN
Driver by this means. Pressing the `V' key will yield View/Modify
access to all screens. Follow the prompts to complete the
  installation.

IBM COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER / LAN SERVER VERSION 1.2 EE
        ------------------------------------------------------

INTRODUCTION
Communications Manager, is the IBM software responsible for
communications, drivers and protocols within OS/2. The ISOLAN
Driver has to be inserted into this package. Afterwards LAN Server
will be loaded on top of Communications Manager to provide the
  services similar to LAN Manager.

The user must have fully installed the Communications Manager and
specified one of the permitted adapters (e.g, 3Com Etherlink
Adapter) during that process. The "config.sys" file will reflect
the installation by including a line such as:

        DEVICE=C:\CMLIB\ELNKII.OS2 (for a 3Com Etherlink II).

The installation of the ISOLAN Driver is accomplished by copying
the driver and a modified "protocol.ini" file to the hard disk of
  the target server or workstation.

INSTALLING THE ISOLAN DRIVER

  1. Ensure that you are in the root directory of the hard disk.

  2. To change to the CMLIB directory, type the following at the
        [C:\] prompt:

            cd cmlib

        and press the return key.

  3. Rename "protocol.ini" as "protocol.old". At the [C:\CMLIB]
        prompt type:

            ren protocol.ini protocol.old

        and press the return key.

This keeps a copy of the file for future reference.

 4. Insert the ISOLAN Drivers Disk disk in drive A. If you are using
the 5.25" format disks, then insert Disk No. 2.

  5. Change to drive A by typing the following at the [C:\MLIB]
        prompt:

            a:

        and press the return key.

  6. Change to the IBMEE directory; type the following at the
        [A:] prompt:

            cd ibmee

        and press the return key.

                               -Page 8-

  7. Copy the new "protocol.ini" file to the CMLIB directory
on drive C:. At the [A:\IBMEE] prompt, type:

            copy protocol.ini c:\cmlib

        and press the return key.

  8. Copy the ISOLAN Driver to the cmlib directory of drive C.
        At the [A:\IBMEE] prompt, type:

            copy isolan.os2 c:\cmlib

        and press the return key.

  9. To implement the change to the ISOLAN driver and adapter,
edit the line in the "config.sys" file which refers to the
        driver, to read:

            DEVICE=C:\CMLIB\ISOLAN.OS2

  10. Shut down the system. Reboot so that the new parameters
        will be loaded.

OTHER NDIS VERSION 1.0 CONFORMANT SOFTWARE
              ------------------------------------------

Each package will have its own features. You are advised
to check that the "config.sys" and "protocol.ini" files have the
  correct structure.
When using ISOLAN Controller Cards, the following Driver Names must
  be specified in `protocol.ini':

ISOLAN AT or MCA Controller Card DRIVERNAME = ISOLAN$
ISOLAN PC Controller Card DRIVERNAME = ISOPC$
