NetProxy Version 1.2 Revision 10 Upgrade Notes
==============================================

IMPORTANT: Please read the disclaimer at the end of this file before using
NetProxy. If you do not accept the terms of use, remove NetProxy from your
system.

Changes since v1.2 rev 6
------------------------

1. Fixed various minor problems with the registration timeout code.

2. The internal web-proxy was severely broken :(
2a. Accessing web-servers on ports other than port 80 now works.
2b. Posting form data now works in all cases.

3. Connecting to hosts by IP address that didn't have an appropraite
address record in the DNS was failing. This prevented incoming connections
to machines behind NetProxy on your LAN, unless you ran an internal DNS
server or had entries in your "hosts" file for the LAN machines.

4. Finally fixed the bug prevents the help file being displayed correctly
   under NT.

Changes since v1.2 rev 0
------------------------

1. NetProxy now uses asynchronous DNS functions for increased speed and
   reliability.

2. Telnet from Solaris 2.5 is now ok.

3. FTP gateway now works from Solaris 2.5

4. NetProxy should no longer hang every few hours, or when an unresolved
   DNS lookup is attempted.

5. FTP across two proxies should now work. I didn't think anyone would ever
need to do such a thing... but it would appear I was wrong. Use the form
'username@ftp.host.name@gateway2.host.name' if you need to connect via a
   second proxy.

5. Added 'finger' command to telnet gateway. Type 'help finger' whilst
connected to the telnet gateway for information on syntax.

6. Uploads and downloads of large FTP files/directories should no longer
   hang NetProxy.

7. Fixed numerous bugs in Telnet option negotiation that was causing problems
with some UN*X telnet clients (low-spec telnet clients such as Microsoft's
   telnet for Win95/NT weren't affected).

8. Java(tm) applets and CGI forms now work correctly through the web proxy.

9. Error messages were being send from the web proxy without any HTML headers
which was causing problems with some browsers.

10. Fixed lots of bugs (some obscure, some not so obscure) in the web proxy,
telnet gateway, ftp gateway and socks server.

In short, this release is _much_ faster and more robust than previous
versions. Thanks to the beta testers and everyone that took the time to
report problems.
