UHSWIN 4.30 Readme

The Universal Hint System gives you only the hints that you
need to solve hundreds of computer games. Unlike
traditional walkthroughs, the UHS lets you select specific
questions and view only as much information as you want --
from subtle nudges to full answers -- so that you have an
opportunity to finish solving the game on your own.

This program is the UHS Reader for Windows 95/98/NT4
(UHSWIN), version 4.30. It will read any UHS hint file
currently available at the official UHS web site at
http://www.uhs-hints.com/. Hint files are not included with
this program -- you will need to download hint files
individually from our web site. You can also download
versions of UHS readers for MacOS, DOS, and Windows 3.1
from our web site.

UHSWIN 4.30 is distributed as shareware. If you use it
beyond the trial period of 60 days or use more than 2 hint
files, you must order a registered copy. Unregistered users
may experience some limitations in the availability of hints
within certain files. The registration fee for the UHS
readers (DOS, Windows, and Windows 95/98/NT4) is $20.

The UHS reader is provided as self-installer program.
You should run this program (usually named UHSW9543.EXE)
to install the UHS reader to your system. The installer
will copy the UHS reader and related files to your system
and create the appropriate icons for you on your "Start
Menu". It will also add the .UHS file type to your Windows
settings, so that you can view any UHS file just by
double-clicking on it.

UHSWIN 4.30 uses an improved format for printouts of windows
and hint files, now combining text and graphics and
preserving formatting of tables. It also allows you to
continue reading hints where you left off after closing and
restarting the reader, improves the command that lists hint
files by full titles rather than their filenames, and
includes a number of other interface enhancements and bug
fixes.
