*NOTE*
The "opengl32.dll" provided with the demo is for 3Dfx Voodoo, Voodoo
Rush, and Voodoo2 users. If you do not have one of these cards, simply
delete it and replace with your own card's opengl driver. Consult your
card maker's website for the correct drivers.

THE OPTIONS MENU

-First, you'll see the video detail. If you've got a lower end
machine, then use the lower details. Just for reference,
however, a Pentium 133 with a Voodoo chipset should run
HIGH detail just fine. To change any option on this screen,
just left-click on the option, until the setting is what
	you desire.
-The Gamma adjust allows you to change the brightness of the game,
useful if you have a lot of glare on your screen.
The higher the number, the brighter the screen.
-Sound Fx - On or Off
-Music - On or Off
-Start City - This allows you to select what city you start at,
	providing you've already been there.
(Reminder: Level 1 begins in Metropolis,
level 13 begins in the desert,
level 25 begins in the lagoon.
The game has a total of 36 levels.)
-Reset High Score - This does not reset the high score :)

THE GAME

For starters, here's a list of the commands:
	Left-click	Fire your weapon
	Right-click	Change your weapon
			(Regular, heat-seeking, ion)
	<ESC> Pause\Resume

Now that we've got that squared away, here's what you'll see
on the screen:
	Bottom/Center	Your faithful turret
			(Useful for defending cities)
Bottom The City you need to protect
Top Right	Ammo (A weapon with no ammo is grayed out)
	Top Left	Score
Top Incoming Missiles and other enemy attacks

Simple enough, right? Wrong. There are several different problems
that you as city defender need to face:

-Different Enemy attacks
	- The Missile...a very potent weapon at the hands of a
bad guy. These are aimed to destroy and you
better be ready to take them out.
	- The Splitter...the worst thing to come along since SPAM.
These guys have bright red trails and have a
random number of regular missiles hidden inside.
Better take them out before they have time to
arm themselves and scatter their cargo.
	- The Meteor...bits of rock falling from space.
Well, maybe not falling. Conceivably, they could
be thrown at a target. (Not available in this demo)
	- Air Strike...better be ready for these. Listen for
anything unusual... (Not available in this demo)

At least you're not caught completely off guard.

-The Missile...yes, you have some too. Yours have an
automatic detonation system, so when they reach
a certain altitude they blow up. Better catch
		enemy missiles in the explosion.
-Homing Missile...a missile with a state of the art heat
seeker head and automatically controlled fins.
These puppies fly themselves into enemy missiles.
Watch it though, cause they're so easy to use
it's hard to go back to using regular missiles.
(Attainable by hitting a power up) (Not available in this demo)
-Ion Missile...technology at its best. A missile is
fired from your turret with a particle acceleratrix
built into its belly. After it gains a little
altitude, it blasts concentrated streams of ions
at any threat to your city. Fun.
(Attainable by hitting a power up)
-Shield...electromagnetic field that protects your turret
from one blast. Lasts until you get hit.
(Attainable by hitting a power up) (Not available in this demo)

Note: A power up floats across the screen randomly.
Try hitting it with your regular missile.

THE SCORE SCREEN

At the end of each level, if you have not been killed, a score
screen will appear. It will count up your results and determine
a new running total score so far. Damaged buildings will be repaired
if you did well enough in the previous round. How well you did is
based on your ratio of incoming missiles to missiles you fired.
The Score Screen will pause until you click the mouse to continue.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

-Music doesn't play during start up, How am I supposed to enjoy
the game?
       	- go to options menu and make sure the MUSIC is turned on.
   	  Try on then off again.

-The game runs too slowly, I can't play it
	- reduce the detail setting in the options menu to LOW. Remember,
Global Defender is meant to be run using a 3D accelerator.

-The screen is too dark to see my buildings
	- this is probably because of glare on your screen or just
general screen brightness. Adjust your GAMMA setting
	  in the options menu.

-My city blew up!
	- Try again. This time shoot the enemy missiles.
