Introduction
------------
JAMMIN is a Windows front end for 'GP2JAM.EXE', a graphics converter for JAM
files from the game Formula One Grand Prix 2 (F1GP2) by Microprose.

JAMMIN makes it easy to navigate the 200 or so graphics files that are used
in F1GP2. It allows you to easily convert JAM files to BMP and back again,
and also provides quick viewing of the files while providing basic file
management functions and links to graphics editors.

You will need a copy of GP2JAM.EXE to use this program. GP2JAM is written by
Trevor Kellaway and is not part of this distribution. You can download a copy
from Trevor's home page at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/tkellaway
If you have any questions about what GP2JAM does, read the documentation
file that comes with that program! I have no connection with the author of
GP2JAM so don't ask me any questions! :-)

Installation
------------
This distribution should include the following files:

        JAMMIN.EXE The windows executable.
        JAMMIN.TXT This documentation file.
CMDIALOG.VBX VB support file for dialog boxes.

You will also need the following files:

GP2JAM.EXE The DOS graphics convertor program (see introduction)
VBRUN300.DLL VB runtime library in your WINDOWS directory. If you
don't have a copy of this already, go to the search
engine altavista.digital.com and enter VBRUN300.DLL as
your search to find a suitable download location.

Simply unpack the distribution files to any directory on your hard disk, for
example C:\JAMMIN. You can then run JAMMIN.EXE to start the program.

The first time you run JAMMIN it will ask you for some path names. They should
be entered as follows:

GP2JAM Path .. the full path where the utility GP2JAM.EXE is stored.
JAM Path ..... the default path for your JAMs. eg: C:\GP2\GAMEJAMS.
BMP Path ..... the default path for your BMPs. eg: C:\BMPFILES.

Your settings are saved in the JAMMIN.INI file which is stored in the same
directory as the JAMMIN.EXE file.

Using JAMMIN
------------
Here's what all the buttons do:

BMP to JAM : converts the BMP file on the left to the JAM file on the right.
Note you can type in a different filename from the one selected
in the JAM directory, but it MUST be a valid JAM filename that
comes with the game for the conversion to take place!

JAM to BMP : as above but the other way round. BMP's are not restricted by
the filenames that come with the game, so you can name them
              anything you like.

Copy : Makes a copy of the currently selected file (see below).

Rename : Renames the currently selected file.

Delete : Go on, guess.

Edit BMP : Fires up your favourite graphics editor (see configuration) with
              the currently selected BMP file.

Edit JAM : As above but converts the current JAM to PAINTKIT.BMP then
loads that file into your favourite editor.

You can tell which file is currently selected for the copy/rename/delete
options by looking at the labels "JAMS" and "BMPS" at the top of the screen.
The currently selected side has the writing in Bold and Underlined.

Configuration
-------------
The configuration screen has the following items:

Path to GP2JAM : This must be the pathname to where the utility GP2JAM.EXE
is stored. Note you must have a copy of GP2JAM.EXE for
                  JAMMIN to work!

Path to BMPs : The default path where you store your .BMP files.

Path to JAMs : The path to where your JAMs are stored. This is usually
the gamejams directory within the gp2 directory.

BMP Editor : The path and filename to your favorite BMP editing package.
Defaults to Paintbrush that comes with Windows.

In addition there are 2 buttons, "Take BMP path from current" and "Take JAM
path from current". As the names suggest, these take the current directories
from the main screen and enter them in the settings fields for you.
