WHAT IS MISSION ESCAPE

In this age of Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and Dark Forces II where game
software for the PC is constantly getting bigger and bigger with more intense
graphics and more intense system requirements, where are the games for the
little guy? Aside from Solitaire, FreeCell, and Minesweeper, where are the
games that you can play while on break at your desk at work? Where are the
games that don't require a GB of hard drive space, 16 to 32 MB of RAM, a
super-elaborate input device (normal joysticks just don't cut it anymore),
and a PCI accelerator video card for your computer? Nowadays you need a
system fit for The X-Files just to play a computer game!

Not with Mission ESCAPE. This is the first in a series of Low Impact
Entertainment Software (tm) [L.I.E.S.] from Technical Machine Jargon (tm)
Productions, Inc. All you need to play this game is a PC, Windows, and a
mouse. That's it!

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

The premise of this game, in a nutshell, is this: it's the not-too-distant
future and you encounter an abandoned space station. An array of multi-
colored lights grabs your attention and you go in to investigate. Upon
entering, you accidentally trip a dormant security system and are trapped
with a limited amount of air left in the room. The security system is a
pattern of red, yellow, and green lights arranged in various shapes
(squares, rectangles, triangles, etc.). These lights constantly change
colors in a random fashion at random intervals.

The object is to successfully click on all of the green lights in the
pattern in order to lock the lights in and defeat the security system. When
you click a green light, it turns gray and remains in position. Ah, but
beware - you must do so before your air supply runs out or you die! Also,
if you inadvertently click a yellow light you lose air faster. If you click
a red light you lose even more air faster, bringing you even closer to your
doom.

Also, when you click on a green light no more clicks will be accepted from
you for a full second. This prevents you from being able to rapidly click a
series of adjacent green lights in immediate succession. After all, we
can't make it TOO easy for you, can we?

DEMO VERSION FEATURES vs. FULL VERSION FEATURES

With the free demo version of Mission ESCAPE you, of course, only get
limited features in the game. The demo version gives you the following
options:

* Single round game.
* A 5-minute time limit for the round.
* A variable time interval for light color changes during the play of the
round. This means that as the five minutes progress, the lights will
gradually begin changing colors faster and faster.
* A choice of two of the six shapes for the light pattern - square or
diamond. For the diamond, you can choose either the horizontal or the
  vertical diamond.
* The ability to select the number of lights per side for a square or the
number of lights for the spine of a diamond (e.g. a 1515 square or a
diamond with 21 lights for its spine - 11 lights per side).
* The ability to select the percentage of lights that are green - 25 to 35%.
The remaining lights are evenly red and yellow. e.g. For a 2020 square
there are 400 lights altogether. If you select 25%, 100 lights will be
green, 150 will be red, and 150 will be yellow and you'll have to click
all 100 green lights within the 5 minutes in order to win.

If you buy the full version of Mission ESCAPE you get the following:

* Full installation of the game onto your computer via a setup wizard.
* A title screen and game plot scenario screen.
* Sound - MIDI tracks and wave sound effects with the ability to turn sound
on or off and change the volume levels.
* The ability to save a game onto disk.
* The ability to open a previously saved game and resume play.
* Windows help for the game.
* Real dialog messages for when the game or round ends.
* Registration for information on updates and future L.I.E.S. (tm) from TMJ
  Productions, Inc.
* The ability to choose either a full game or a single round game. If you
select a full game then all other options are disabled - a full game takes
control and you never play the same game arrangement twice. The following
options only apply to single round games.
* The ability to choose whether or not to play with a time limit.
* The ability to choose 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes for a single round game time
  limit.
* The ability to choose whether or not to have a fixed time interval between
light color changes. If you don't choose a fixed interval then the time
interval gradually decreases (i.e. goes faster) as the round progresses.
* A choice of time intervals ranging from 1 second to 1/32nd of a second
  between light color changes.
* The ability to choose one of six primary shapes for the light pattern -
square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, trapezoid, or hexagon.
* The ability to choose one of the secondary shapes for either the rect-
angle, triangle, diamond, or trapezoid. Altogether there are 16 different
  shapes to choose from.
* The ability to choose the number of lights per side (or spine for a
  diamond).
* The ability to choose the percentage of green lights in the pattern.

The shareware version differs from the full version in the following ways:

* Only one MIDI track as opposed to multiple random MIDI tracks.
* Mandatory sound using whatever volume levels are currently selected in
Windows, as opposed to the full version which lets you select sound
optionally and lets you customize the volume levels in the game itself.
* Does not let you play a full six-round game like the full version does.
It does, however, support a single round game with all options available.
