2. System Requirements
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This mod campaign requires the full version of Command & Conquer. It works
on both DOS Command & Conquer and the Win95 version, Command & Conquer Gold.

For DOS C&C, it is advised to patch C&C to version version 1.22.
You can download the 1.22 patch for C&C here:
ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/ccgold/updates/CCGOLDXPPATCH.ZIP

For C&C95, it is advised to update the game with the latest unofficial fixes.
You can find these at
http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/cncstuff/0_files.html#fix_oth

This mod is compatible with Nyerguds' Hi-res mod, meaning it will play in
1024x768 resolution when you install and enable the hi-res mod.

To run the mod in The First Decade, you will need to start ANTRUN95.EXE
with command line parameter "-cd."

This is a standalone mod; while the ant mod does use some of C&C's original
files, the final mod will not affect your normal C&C game. You will only get
the ant missions when running the FDANCE executables.

3. Story
=-=-=-=-
The Flame Dancer campaign takes place about two years after the
defeat of the Brotherhood of Nod by the Global Defense Initiative.
During this two year break, the GDI had never been seriously challenged
and has grown complacent, believing that the threat of another group
like the Brotherhood emerging was very unlikely. However, they did not
count on the Flame Dancers and their mysterious leader Remorse.

The Flame Dancers seek only destruction, not world domination, and have
known for years (perhaps decades) that the GDI would be their opposition.
Thus they have been infiltrating the organisation for years, getting into
positions of authority and access to vital areas of the organisation. They
have managed to hide themselves well, but the time has come for the
Flame Dancers to emerge. Remorse has ordered the flames lit - can you
stop him?

4. Installing and uninstalling
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Since this is the bare version of the mod, no real installation is needed.

To install the mod, put all files in your C&C directory.
To uninstall the mod, simply remove the added files.

Note that the included THIPX32.DLL is a vital update for C&C95, and should not
be deleted when uninstalling. Of course, if you install this on DOS C&C, it's
not needed at all.

5. The campaign
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
For starters, you get a 15 mission campaign for the GDI.
These missions are all new, and are of moderate-high difficulty.

You also get to face a new structure, called the Flame Pod.
However, this is only available to the Flame Dancers, and can't be built
by the player.

5.1 Playing the campaign
------------------------
To start the mod, go to your C&C directory and double-click on either
FDANCE01.EXE (for DOS C&C) or FDANCE95.EXE (for C&C95, aka C&C Gold)
Note that if you have the DOS version of C&C, you may have to run ANTRUN01.EXE
with VDMSound or DOSBox to make it work correctly in Windows XP or Vista.

Once you started, click "Start New Game" on the main menu, and play as GDI.
You will begin at the first of the new missions.

Each time you complete a mission and are shown the map of Europe, click on
the map as you normally would to go to play the next level. It doesn't
matter which arrow you click on.

Each time you begin a new level, it is advisable that you pull down the
options menu and read the mission briefing so that you know what you are
meant to do in that mission. Due to limitations, the mission briefing you
get may be shorter than I would have liked, so the full mission briefings
can be found in the text file BRIEFING.TXT.
I recommend that you only read the full briefings for those missions you have
done/are doing, as the later ones contain some spoilers for previous ones.

These missions are hard, but not impossible. Remember - the Flame Dancers
are fanatics and will throw great numbers of people at you.

5.2 Data Changes
----------------
The following changes are made to the game:
 1. the Flame Pod is installed (for the V19 civilian building)
 2. the Guard Tower becomes buildable at level 5
 3. the Advanced Guard Tower becomes buildable at level 10
 4. the Commando is buildable at level 15
 5. the Transport Helicopter is buildable at level 15
 6. You can select the primary building for constructing helicopters.

These changes are only there when you start the C&C using FDANCE01.EXE or
FDANCE95.EXE. If you run the game normally, nothing will have been changed.

That's about all I can think of that you need to know. Have fun playing
these missions, that's what they are for. Some are tough, while others
should be pieces of cake to most of you.
