                      *** Changes in OB3 ***

-- The inclusion of the SturmPanzer 43 "Brummbar", which becomes available
in mid 1943; this DOES include the appropriate vehicle ICON (if you can't
wait 91 weeks, to see what it looks like: just use the editor to change a
unit on map to the Brummbar!). ****NOTE**** This DOES NOT apply to other
scenarios available with WIR; if you are playing another scenario and use
this Tank1.sym (dated 5/13/94) file: you're R-35's icon will be replaced by
Brummbar's, though the data on the R-35, will still be accurate! I intend
to upload the other scenarios with appropriate changes: to allow the R-35
and Brummbar to be properly represented. These will NOT be major OB/OA
revisions!

-- Minor changes to Aircraft icons, to assist in identifying similar class
types: the Bf109E fuselage has been shortened by 8 inches (don't laugh); the
wing span has been increased on the Bf109F over the Emil, along with the
inclusion of the bulbous air intake manifold on the port side; the Bf109G
has the same wing span as the Friederich, plus wing mounted cannon. The
Fw190D has a longer and narrower fuselage than the Fw190A; while the Fw190F
has the same features of the A version along with a wing root mounted
cannon. The Ju87G PzJagd differs from the Stuka B version, with the
inclusion of the 37mm cannon mounted in underwing pods. As I am writing
this: I'm attempting to find some point of differentiation between the C and
E versions of the Bf110 series; If I can find someway to make them different
I will, otherwise this is the extent of aircraft changes. Okay, its done:
the Bf110e differs from the Bf110c in the slight tail extension, which
contains a dinghy. Please note, that the changes are very subtle; nothing
will JUMP right out at you. After reading this file: unzipping and
installing this OB3 version to your Hard-Drive absolves me from any claims
of lost eyesight! This Air1.sym file can be used with ALL Wir scenarios.

-- Unit additions, above and beyond OB1 and OB2: the 216th, 217th, 218th and
219th Sturm Battalions equipped with Brummbars. The 1101st through 1110th
LW Jpz Batteries equipping the Luftwaffe Field divisions in late '42 to
early '43, with Stug IIIb's or Stug IIIg's. The FallschirmJaeger Assault
Gun Brigades XI and XII broken down into two regiments apiece, with Stug
IIIg's and Stug IIIb's; these become available in late '42.

-- Minute changes to German resource (primarily Nikopol and Breslau) and
Artillery assets to help reduce the overabundance of German Aircraft and
Artillery production.

-- A Brummbar factory which comes online in mid '43.

              *** General notes applicable to OB3 ***

-- Siberia is an off-map city for the Russians: viewable in the Artillery
section of the Industry menu.

-- The Finnish 1st Armored and the Rumanian 1st Tank divisions are equipped
with some Soviet armored vehicles: the Finns from having captured them
during the Winter War of 1940; and the Rumanians possess the T-37 due to it
being the closest datawise to the actual pre-war JUNK tankettes it was
equipped with. Players are advised to replace the Rumanian T-37's as soon
as possible with some other minor German types. The Finns as well should be
replaced; but at the MOST, 2 of the 7 companies (two companies already
possess German equipment) should remain as Soviet equipment, to represent
the KV and T-34 types that the Finns continued to capture and utilize as the
war progressed. Its NOT appropriate to leave ALL these Finnish and Rumanian
units with Soviet equipment: as these units will take their replacements and
upgrades from the Soviet pool.

-- The small case "fr" in the unit designation of a German RR Artillery unit
represents the captured French guns the unit was equipped with.

-- The 1st Moscow Motorized and the 1st Ski Jaeger now possess sub-units.

-- If you are editing the scenario: and you find in the sub-unit listings
the 100th and 101st SS artillery, and the 100th and 101st SS NbW units, they
are only intended to arrive with the availability of the 1st and 2nd SS
Panzer Korps (they are actually inside of the Korps').

-- The Italian bomber, S.M.-84, has been replaced by the S.M.-82 due to the
former being primarily a torpedo bomber of limited production, while the
latter DID participate on the Eastern Front and was produced in much greater
numbers. Overall, a much better aircraft.

-- Due to restrictions, that were unavoidable, the R-35 icon is ONLY
viewable at the actual unit level; it will not show on the floating screen
displays; this was the price to pay for including the Brummbar icon.

-- The Sf.Map which includes the revised rail lines around Lake Ladoga in
Finland and Soviet Karelia, has a city- Petrozavodsk which is NOT accessible
through the "C" key or "City" function due to it being there solely for
terrain purposes. Likewise for what was formerly Lubeck, on the German
Baltic coast; Lubeck served no factory or resource function: so I used its
slot in the database for Siberia. The map also contains 2 full function
cities: Nikopol in the Ukraine, and Astrakhan near the far eastern edge of
the map. Sf.Map can be used with ALL scenarios included in Wir.

-- The Soviet late war Order of Appearance includes divisions with either
German, Rumanian or Austrian in their designation: this represents division
sized units raised from Prisoners of War; in addition, there are Polish and
Yugoslav divisions and/or artillery, anti-tank, armor subunits raised from
volunteers.

*** First time OB revisions to WIR users ***

-- Create a sub-directory in your WIR file; copy your Sf.map, Air1.sym, and
Tank1.sym files to this sub-directory; saves the trouble of having to reload
your WIR from the original disks if you happen to need these files.

-- If you have unzipped this file inside of Aladdin: just copy these files
over to your Wir directory, and the old ones will automatically be written
over; otherwise, see note above.

-- To help determine which file you are using; OB3 version files are dated:
Sf.Map is 3/94 vs. ?/93; Air1.sym is 5/14/94; Tank1.sym is 5/13/94.

I hope you enjoy this; I encourage you to let any of your friends know about
this, and have them order WIR if they do not have it already. This
simulation truly deserves your support. If you have any questions: I can
always be reached on the Wir topic; or by E-Mail at address "L.Lorusso".

All the best,
