INSTRUCTIONS for v1.04 patch to Flight Commander 2

1. You have downloaded a file called FC2PAT.EXE.

2.  "Self-extract" the file by typing "FC2PAT".

3. Three files will appear. This text file you are currently reading
    (README.TXT) is one of them (so you must have figured out how
    to do the first two steps already!). The other files are PATCH.EXE
    and PATCH.RTP.

4. Copy PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP over to the directory in which the
    Flight Commander 2 application resides (it ought to be C:\FLTCOM
    unless you changed the default during installation).

5. Switch to the FLTCOM directory (or wherever the Flight
    Commander 2 application is).

6. Type "PATCH". This will update your copy of Flight Commander 2,
    and will work with all previous versions of Flight Commander 2.

Version history for Flight Commander 2 by Big Time Software, Inc.

***  PC/Windows version  ***

1.04    (1,150,976 bytes    10-10-95    6:27pm)
====

* Debriefing screen now (additionally) shows "tournament scoring"
	which is a numerical scoring useful for play-by-email tournaments.

* Finnish air force now has tech level 3.

*	BUG FIX: The problem that sometimes caused the pilot skills and
	medals gained from the most recent campaign mission not to be
	saved properly has been fixed.

1.03    (1,151,488 bytes    4-20-95    11:20pm)
====

* Altitude (when shown) is now shown in the lower right corner
	of the aircraft silhouette instead of replacing the silhouette
	as before. So now you can see an aircraft's facing and
	altitude simultaneously.

* The afterburner now automatically switches off if you lower the
	throttle below 100% power.

*       BUG FIX: Fixed a cross-platform play-by-email incompatibility
	that sometimes occurred when sending email from PC to Macintosh.

* BUG FIX: No more program crashes when aircraft run out of fuel.

* BUG FIX: Program no longer crashes if you quit campaign from
	pilot selection screen.

* BUG FIX: Sometime F-5A was referred to as F-5E. Corrected.

* BUG FIX: Airbase munitions in campaigns are correctly depleted as
	used.

* BUG FIX: Alt-J keyboard shortcut now jettisons weapons like it
	was supposed to.

* The USAF in Vietnam may now use the F-4E Phantom.

* Canada may now use the F-86 Sabre and F-100 Super Sabre.

* The F-105D Thunderchief can now carry 2 AIM-9B Sidewinders.

* Pakistan can now use the F-86 Sabre with AIM-9B missiles (as
	Taiwan can).

* Data Library: various minor corrections.

* Version number (1.03) now shows in the About Box.

* Several aircraft missile-carrying capacities have been changed:
		Su-27: 10       Su-35: 12       Mirage 2000-5: 6
		Kfir C7: 4      F-20: 6

1.02    (1,148,928 bytes    12-12-94    1:57am)
====

*       Program release on CD-ROM.

* Computer pilots (and wingmen) handle RHM guidance better than
	before.

* Play-by-email (PBEM) files now "remember" where the screen was
	centered, so the player who jumps right to the Action Phase will
	get a better opportunity to see the action.

* BUG FIX: On-disk battle scenarios can now be played by email (PBEM)
	correctly.

* BUG FIX: Air-to-air missiles were flying for one turn more than
	their fuel should have allowed. This has been corrected.

* BUG FIX: A Harrier jet can no longer glide indefinitely when its
	engine has been knocked out.

* BUG FIX: The "accelerator keys" (Alt-9 and Alt-0) for the "Computer
	Control" and "Send Home" items in the "Pilot" menu were reversed
	compared to what was shown on the screen. This has been corrected.

1.01    (1,147,904 bytes    11-30-94    2:30am)
====

* Game in progress is now saved at end of each turn to a file
	titled AUTOSAVE.BTL (if you're playing a battle) or AUTOSAVE.CAM
	(if it's a campaign). This autosave file will be placed in the
	same directory as the Flight Commander 2 application (FC.EXE).

* The dialog windows that will appear during your play-by-email
	(PBEM) game are different (and simpler) than the ones described
	in the manual, although the general sequence of events is the
	same. Saving and restoring games in the middle of PBEM games also
	requires a brief explanation. Saved game files and email files
	are different. For this reason, to restart a PBEM game, use the
	"Load Play-By-EMail Game File..." menu item from the File menu.

* BUG FIX: Play-by-email games no longer crash when game is resumed
	from saved files.

* BUG FIX: Clicking on the View button for aircraft with no radar no
	longer causes an error.

* BUG FIX: An incompatibility with certain video drivers that caused
	aircraft to be drawn with the wrong headings has been corrected.

* BUG FIX: Floating windows disappear properly when main window is
	minimized.

1.00    (1,146,368 bytes    11-11-94    10:55am)
====

*       Original program release.
