	       Alphabet Blocks README INSTALLATION NOTES

What The patch Fixes:

This patch disk will update Alphabet Blocks Floppy Disk and CD-ROM Version 
to work on Compaq systems that have multiple sound drivers loaded in Windows.

This patch will only work on some Compaq systems.  It will not work with 
any other computer system.  In addition, the patch should only be installed 
if you are receiving the message "WAVE OUTWRITE ERROR" or "RAVE ERROR- 
WAVE OUT OPEN MMSYSERR_ALLOCATED" while playing Alphabet Blocks.

FLOPPY DISK VERSION PATCH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Only follow these instructions if you have the disk version of Alphabet 
Blocks.

* The patch must be installed to the same directory as Alphabet 
Blocks. Copy all of the files to your Alphabet Blocks game directory.  
For example, if you installed the game into your C: drive in a directory 
called C:\BRGHTSTR\AB and the patch files are on a disk in your A: drive, 
you would type the following:
 
C: [ENTER]
CD \BRGHTSTR\AB [ENTER]
COPY A:*.* [ENTER]

* Once the patch has been copied to the game directory on your hard drive, 
simply start Alphabet Blocks as you normally would and enjoy the game!


CD-ROM VERSION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Only follow these instructions if you have the CD-ROM version of 
Alphabet Blocks.

* First create a directory called AB in the root directory on the 
hard drive.  For example, if your hard drive letter is C:
TYPE at a DOS Prompt
C: [ENTER]
CD\ [ENTER]
MD AB [ENTER]


* Put the Alphabet Blocks CD in the drive.  Go into the Windows Program 
Manager, chose File, Run and type D:\Setup where D is your CD-ROM drive 
letter. 

* Once the installation is complete copy all the files from the 
Alphabet Blocks CD-ROM into the AB directory on the hard drive  
(this will take about 6 megs of hard drive space).
For example, if your hard drive letter is C:
Type at a DOS prompt
C: [ENTER]
CD\AB [ENTER]
COPY D:\AB\*.* C: (where D:\ is the CD-ROM drive letter)


* The patch files must be installed to the same directory as Alphabet 
Blocks. Copy all of the files to your Alphabet Blocks game directory.  
For example, if you installed the game into your C: drive in a directory 
called C:\AB and the patch files are on a disk in your A: drive, you 
would type the following:
 
C: [ENTER]
CD \AB [ENTER]
COPY A:*.* [ENTER]

* Once the files have been copied, go into Windows.  From the Windows 
Program Manager click on File, and then on Properties.  On the command line 
change the drive letter to the hard disk drive letter where the game is 
installed to. For example, if the current command line says D:\AB\AB.EXE and 
the game is now installed to the C drive in the AB directory you would 
changed it to C:\AB\AB.EXE.  

* Next change the working directory line as well.  For example if the 
current working directory line says D:\AB and the game is now installed 
to the C drive in an AB directory, you would changed it to C:\AB. 

* Click OK 

* Take the Alphabet Blocks CD-ROM out of the drive.  

* You can now click on the Alphabet Blocks icon in the BRGHTSTR group 
and enjoy playing the game.
