*****************************************************************************

1.	Improvements

* Fixes the crash upon exiting the game on MOST systems. We have found that
the crash is sound card related and recommend that if you still experience
the crash, to turn the sound off.

* Corrects the problem with entering Gorge Keep from the northern entrance
and getting stuck when the portcullis is shut.

* The armour rating now works correctly (It will no longer say 'unarmoured'
  when you are wearing armour).

* Several graphic problems have been cleared up.

2.	Installing The Patch

In order to install the patch for Anvil, you must have the game installed on
your hard disk.

In DOS: Simply copy the contents of this patch disk to your game directory
on the hard disk (ie. C:\ANVIL). To do this, put the patch disk in
your A: (or B:) drive and type:

			 'CD\ANVIL' and press Enter

			 'copy A:\' and press Enter

After this is done, from the C:\ANVIL prompt, type in 'ANVUP' and
press Enter. Your game is now patched and is ready to play. You may
        remove the patch disk.

Win95 : (* Note, you may open up a DOS window and use the DOS instructions
to install the Anvil patch in Win95 *)

To install the Anvil patch from Win95:

Put the patch disk in your A:

Click on the 'Start' button on your taskbar

	 Double-click on 'Run'

In the command box that appears, type in:

		 'copy A:. C:\ANVIL'

This will copy the contents of the Anvil patch to your game directory.

Double-click on 'My Computer', then on your C: drive.

Double-click on the Anvil folder to open it up, and find the file
	 called ANVILUP or ANVUP.BAT

Double-click on the file ANVUP or ANVUP.BAT

Your Anvil of Dawn game is patched and ready to play. Enjoy!

3. Running under DOS

DOS users are still encouraged to disable EMM386 when running Anvil.

To do so:

   1. Type EMM386 OFF at your command prompt

If EMM386 reports InActive then Anvil should run properly.

Note: You will need to type EMM386 OFF everytime you reboot
            your computer.

or 2. Try REMing out EMM386 in your CONFIG.SYS:

type the following at your command prompt and hit ENTER.

         EDIT C:\CONFIG.SYS

(This will edit your system configuration)

         find the line

            DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE

or the like and add to the front of the line REM ... i.e.

            REM DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE

go to the File Menu and Select Exit and answer YES to save
         the changes.

If you need to re-install EMM386 for any reason you can remove
the REM at the front of the line.

You will need to re-boot your computer for this change to take effect.
