Aug. 17th., 1995.

From Windows: You "may" want to select WORD WRAP from EDIT above - it'll be easier to read and/or PRINT this file for referral purposes.

To insert your NEW ACARS95.ZIP file -

From the DOS prompt
C:\NASCAR\CARS <enter>

MD ACARS95 <enter> this makes a directory for ACARS95

CD\ <enter>

then move the zipfile ACARS95.ZIP to C:\NASCAR\CARS\ACARS95

PKUNZIP ACARS95.ZIP <enter> and watch the files open up

Click on to the ReadMe.Txt and enjoy!

Then go to your NASCAR sim or to PaintKit to take a "peek" at your new cars
The 3-D versions of the cars can be over seen at the Driver's Info screen, after choosing Car Sets

If you have an earlier version of ACARS95, then just follow the loading instructions here. You'll be asked if you want to OVEWRITE the file. If you do then select Y. You'll then LOSE the previous version of ACARS95.

If you want to keep any previous versions of ACARS95, each set MUST have a different and distinct name. Also remember to REName the accompanying ***.DAT file to the same name as the carset subdirectory name.
Thus, ACARS95 MUST also have the ACARS95>DAT file. You can't miss it - it's over 1.4 Mb. in size.

Also, remember to leave your CARS94 car set totally alone. Especially DO NOT touch it in Windows!
AND - PLEASE DO NOT REName CARS94
If it becomes "corrupted in any way", your sim WILL NOT load. It's nerve wracking, time consuming and above all, FRUSTRATING to have to re-load the ENTIRE simulator back into your computer.
Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt! <G> :-)

***NOTE: See page 167 of your North American manual for details.

For a league race, REName Drivers2.Txt to another name (I usually use Dr2.Txt)
Then REName League.Txt DRIVERS2.TXT
and you're ready to race - league style!

To use the non-league Drivers2.Txt - reverse the above process.

To insert another race car into your ACARS95 set:
copy the individual car file to the C:\NASCAR directory
and REName it NASC94.PCX

go to C:\NASCAR
PaintKit ACARS95
PaintCars
the kit opens up into the Pace Car garage, hit
Next Car which brings you to your race car file location Note: the car is currently the 44 Jack-A-Roo Barby-Q-Sauce car of Jeff Purvis.
SELECT
IMPORT
SAVE

- done!

(This WILL Work PROVIDED that you've followed the above instructions.
Note: if your files/directories, etc. are named differently, adjust accordingly)
