NecroBoi's Configuration v3.3 for QUAKE v1.01 Qcfg33.zip
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This Quake script was designed to be used with a TrackMan Marble or
  a 3-button mouse ONLY ...

v3.3 Features: Quick Weapon System (fully selectable), Rocket High
Jump, Circle Strafe, Crosshair, Crosshair Zooms, Wide-angle View,
Float, Bright, Gamma, Locked Freelook, Xray, and Sound Enhancements

  Zip contents: Autoexec.cfg, Necro33.cfg, readme.txt

----------------------------------------------------------------------

- setup info

Print out this Readme.txt. Backup your copy of autoexec.cfg before
continuing. Unzip QCFG33.ZIP into C:\quake\id1\. On the command line
or in a batch file you would type:

           quake.exe -nojoy (+exec necro33.cfg not required)

If you wish to leave your own setup intact make a separate directory
parallel with id1 and name it something like "necro". Then unzip the
  QCFG33.ZIP into the new directory.

The directory structure will look something like:

	   /quake/quake.exe
	   /quake/id1/
	   /quake/necro/autoexec.cfg
 	   /quake/necro/necro33.cfg
 	   /quake/necro/readme.txt

Run Quake with "-game necro", which will cause Quake to look for
data in the necro directory before falling back to id1. Once the
game has started press F12 to bypass the menu screen to go directly
to the Introduction Level. Now, set your gamma correction by using
F11. Press the middle mouse button (MOUSE3) to use your "Quick Axe".
The axe will always be your default 'Quick Weapon' when you startup
  Quake.

Try testing out the 'Quick Weapon' system - press (9) to receive all
weapons, select a primary weapon with the number keys, hold down (r)
or (MOUSE2) and press the a weapon #. Your chosen weapon is now as-
signed to the (MOUSE3) button. Your choice will also be indicated to
you on the screen. Press (r) or (MOUSE2) alone. Your current weapon
will be shown to you when you release it. Use this to query your
current 'Quick Weapon'. Unlike my previous scripts that limited you
to just the Rocket and Grenade Launcher, you have the choice to as-
sign ANY 2 weapons to the mouse in any combination you wish. You can
set the Rocket Launcher with (f) or Grenade Launcher with (c) as an
alternative, also using the Quick Weapon selector to enable. I sug-
gest using these keys over the normal system when you do have either
weapon. Please read the 'special keys' section for more information
  on other key functions.

  * When running Quake with this script under Windows 95 I advise
opening up the 'Properties' dialogue and unchecking (Alt+Space)
located under 'Windows shortcuts' in the 'Misc' tab. This will
prevent you from accidentally minimizing Quake while playing.

! special keys

- Quick Weapon Selector (MOUSE2) or (r); query your current secondary
weapon by clicking either key; hold down and select a weapon with
the number keys to assign it to (MOUSE3); you will receive audio and
  visual confirmation of your selection

  - A Quick Rocket and Grenade Selector (f and c) has been added to
enhance the weapon selection process. You still must use either
Quick Weapon Selector with these keys.

  - When in sight of a weapon to be picked up, it's a good idea to
assign it to your primary or secondary mouse button in advance.

  - Never try to fire your primary weapon and select a secondary at
the same time - Quake will crash.

  - When playing network games remember to use (ENTER) to reset your
weapons back to the default setup after getting fragged.

- Quick Weapon button (MOUSE3); this will fire weapons continuously
and return to your primary weapon (MOUSE1) when released

- Sniper Zoom Toggle (SPACE) and Full Zoom Hotkey (x) modes with a
toggling Crosshair; sensitivity is adjusted relative to magnifica-
tion for some serious sniper action

  - Apparently id has not actually centered shots properly on the
screen, they usually hit below and to the right of center. You
should be aiming to the upper left of your intended target when
using the zoom modes with the crosshair.

- Wide-angle View Hotkey (v); good for keeping an eye on 2 corridors
  when standing in a corner

- Circle Strafing keys (q and e); use these keys in conjunction with
Forward (w) and mouse movement; some experimenting is required to
use these keys successfully; these keys are redundant under bad lag
  conditions in network games

- Float Mode (ALT) allows you to maintain buoyancy in water; you bob
up and down creating the effect like you are treading water; handy
in emergency situations where a quick swim to the surface is needed
or when going under water is not preferred

  - Fly (CTRL) and Noclip (PGUP) are disabled when Float is on; you
can still dive and use Movedown (z) in Float Mode.

- Bright (b) is simply a toggle using the (gamma) command; my default
setting is .60 so you should edit this before using; not a true
nightscope, but it helps under dim conditions

- Rocket High Jump (g); an extreme high jump manuever, costing 45
health points w/o armor, around 33 with the green armor & less than
  20 with the yellow armor

- A Crosshair toggle (i) has been added

- tips on usage

A 2-button mouse version is not planned for this particular script
and I won't be taking requests for it. But, you are free to do what
you please with it so I'll leave it up to you. All the features may
seem a little daunting at first because I have given you greater
flexibility in how you manage your weapons and monitor your status.
I have assigned the mouse buttons to take full advantage of the
script features and I definitely recommend getting a 3-button mouse
if you are to use this script at all. Please keep in mind that
Quake was intended to be run on 16MB or higher pentium systems so
I'm sure that this script will crash on you if you have a lesser
system configuration. Also, erratic, multiple key presses (inde-
cisive weapon selections) will force a crash on any system. If you
handle this script in a deliberate and precise manner I see no pro-
blems for you when you when using it ...

When using the Circle Strafing keys I rarely maintain a full circle.
I intended this for getting quickly behind someone while shooting,
and for ambushing around corners. The idea behind the Quick Weapon
was to always have the Double-Barrel Shotgun or the SNG as a primary
weapon and an area effect weapon (Grenade or Rocket Launcher) set as
a backup. With this weapon system you can alternate between all the
weapons in any combination. The Sniper Zoom is a toggle instead of a
hotkey allowing you more freedom to move with it on.
