Lightbikes v1.00 - By James Payne, (c) 1998.
More or less final release - 21st April, 1998.

Introduction.
This is a freeware release of Lightbikes - A multiplayer game based on the
Light Cycles genre of game. You've probably played
something similar before, but probably not in full 3D, and probably
not networked, with up to 8 players...
Did I mention it's free? Well, it is.

Specs.
A few Pentiums (or compatible) P90 or above required.
An IPX based network connecting them.

[ ... if you can play Quake or similar on your network, Lightbikes should
    work well ... ]

QuickStart.
To play, follow these simple steps:

  i) Install Lightbikes on your computers - (ie, Unzip all the files into
     a directory).
ii) If Windows of some sort is running, either use MSDOS mode, or at least
     use a maximized DOS window.
iii) Run Lightbikes on each computer.
     - you will be prompted for a handle - type in something and press enter.
     - on screen prompts will give you options, one player should press
[enter] to create a Lightbikes server, the others should press
the appropriate number key to attempt to connect to the server.
 iv) Play Lightbikes
     - use Left/Right arrow keys to control, F-keys to change view.
  v) When you've had enough, quit by pressing ESC.
vi) Individual players can safely quit, the server should really wait
until the other players have quit.

Known bugs.
Slight graphical glitches sometimes.
Collision detection is slightly dodgy - bikes passing through each others trails.
Bikes are sometimes seen to move at different speeds - only seems to happen
when in a windows-like environment (ie, quit to DOS to run Lightbikes...)

Neato features.
There are now a few commands which can be typed at 'chat' stage - things
which can only be done by the server are marked (s). All commands
begin with '/' and must be in lower case.

/hand <STR> Choose a new handle (must be less than 16 letters).
/serv Returns the name of the server.
/col <n> Changes your playing color, n must be 1-7.
/reset (s) Sets all scores to zero, and returns to the chat room.

Problems.
Mail me: j.payne@sms.ed.ac.uk
I'll still fix bugs, but I've more or less stopped updating Lightbikes now.
Try to tell me as much as possible about the problem so that I stand a chance
of recreating and correcting the fault. eg, System, OS, Specs, other hardware.

Different versions.
LIGHT1.EXE - single player (and no AI) just to see what you're missing
if you don't have a network.

LIGHT4.EXE - 4 player version - for networks which have problems supporting
             the 8 player version.

LIGHT8.EXE - 8 player version - for maximum enjoyment.
