PENGUINS help and information file

LEGAL NON-SENSE:

Penguins was not designed to harm anything or anyone.
If something BAD happens while you are
playing Penguins, we are not responsible.

Penguins is freeware. You may and are encouraged to
take copies of it and upload it to BBS and Internet
sites. You are not allowed to sell or modify Penguins
without our permission. Please see end of this document
for contact info.

We have made Penguins not wanting to break any copyright
rules, however, some parts of the game including the
module player, some sound samples and the main menu
font have been downloaded from the internet. They
are SUPPOSED to be freeware but if you think some of the
material or ideas belong to YOU and you don't want to share
them with US, e-mail us and we'll see what can be done.
Remember, we have made this game so that people could have
a moment of fun playing it. We didn't get any money
for making Penguins.

5. Controlling Penguins

When you choose START GAME in the main menu
a random terrain will be created. If, however,
due to some nasty bugs, the terrain generator
gets stuck, you can press ESC and a new terrain
will be created.

During the game you can always press ESC to return
to the main menu.

The game controls are the following:

The FIRE key always fires a weapon. If you have the JUMP
key held while pressing fire the cliffhanger will always
be fired. Note that you can fire only some weapons such
as grenades and cluster bombs while you are flying in a
balloon or hanging in the cliffhanger.

The JUMP key is used for making a penguin jump. The longer
you hold the key before releasing the longer will the
penguin jump. If, when releasing JUMP, you hold the
LEFT key and the penguin is facing right or the RIGHT
key when facing left the penguin will jump backwards.
If you are pressing the UP key when releasing JUMP the
penguin will jump higher.

While holding the CHOOSE WEAPON key you can use the arrow
keys to select a weapon in the menu that will appear.

Pressing the SELECT UNIT key gives you control over another
penguin in your team.

The LEFT and RIGHT keys move the penguin left and right.

The UP and DOWN keys move the penguin up and down when
using the cliffhanger or the hot-air balloon.

Remember that ESC always returns you to the main menu.

6. Killing Penguins

There is no single player mode in Penguins. There are
always two teams with 1-5 penguins. Every penguin starts
with 100 hit points and every explosion, missile or bullet
will reduce his hit points. When the number of hit points
reaches zero the penguin will die. When all penguins in a
team die the game is over and the team with living
penguins wins.
