NovaLogic Newsletter
Volume 1, Issue 6, November 22, 1996
____________________________________________________________
* INTRODUCTION *

Welcome to issue 6 of the NovaLogic newsletter. It's been a rather
eventful two weeks since our last issue. F-22 Lightning II continues to
win accolades for its graphic content and ease of playability. It
appears that we achieved just the balance between "hard core" simulation
and "get in and go" that we were seeking. Since you're interested in
NovaLogic products, we'd like your opinion about future ones. At the end
of this newsletter is a one question survey.

- A NovaLogic milestone -

NovaLogic has placed a playable interactive demo of the best-selling PC
F-22 simulation, F-22 Lightning II, on our web page! Due to the
overwhelming response to the game, we wanted to provide those potential
new customers and those late adopters, the chance to "fly then buy."
This is the first time NovaLogic has made an interactive demo available
to our audience. The demo consists of a flight training mission that
teaches the player the capabilities of this next generation military
machine. The full version of the game delivers the only "out of the box"
F-22 multiplayer ready (for up to 8 players) simulation on-the-market.
Get into the pilot seat and fly this fixed-wing fighter. Visit us at
http://www.novalogic.com to experience the sensation.

* PRODUCT NEWS *

>>>>>F-22 Lightning II
The long awaited "mother of all upgrades" for the F-22 is just about
ready for release. Many features and fixes are included in this patch.
Not only do you now get additional pilot views (including a "Check
Six"), there's a multiplayer Chat mode that allows you to communicate
with your wingmen. And, players are given access to a previously hidden
set of missions. This entire bonus campaign (kept hidden from players in
the original release unless they achieved a certain level of success) is
now available.

>>>>>Comanche 3

Many of you were counting on squeezing a copy of Comanche 3 into someone
special's stocking this year but it appears that this simulation won't
be released in time for Christmas after all. Comanche 3 will be released
in early `97. In fact, the team is caught up in fine tuning Comanche 3
so that when it is released you'll agree it will be well worth the wait.

Recently, part of the Comanche 3 design team got a chance to fly in the
actual Boeing-Sikorsky simulator. From what I understand, the Sikorsky
people were as impressed with our work as we were of theirs. Sikorsky
won't be delivering the Comanche fleet for a couple of years. But, you
won't have to wait to fly the craft, you'll be able to strap yourself
into Comanche 3 in a couple of months.

This week NovaLogic was also fortunate indeed to have an pilot expert in
helicopter warfare come and take a look at Comanche 3. He came well
equipped to comment on the state of our flight modeling. We all breathed
a collective (no pun intended) sigh of relief when he gave it his
unqualified "thumbs up."

>>>>>Armored Fist 2 - M1A2 Abrams

Work on Armored Fist 2 is also progressing smoothly. There's just
something relaxing (even soothing) about being inside an M1A2 Abrams
tank and blasting everything in sight. It would be the perfect mode of
transportation for dealing with the freeway traffic here in Los Angeles.

>>>>>Werewolf vs. Comanche 2 for Macintosh

Last but certainly not least, you Mac users in the group will be pleased
to note that Werewolf vs. Comanche 2 MAC is just about done. It will be
released from testing within the next two weeks. The multiplayer
Cooperative and Head to Head modes work superbly also. You know you have
a good product when you can't get everyone to quit playing it long
enough to finish working on it.

>>>CNN Computer Connection segment aired October 12, 1996

"F-22 Lightning II has hit the sim nail right on the head; it's got
enough detail to make sure no-one will mistake it for an arcade game,
but enough style, visual glamour and balance to make it fun to play from
the get-go." "...most of us, newcomers and vets alike, will drop the
hard-core routine and just dig into one of the most enjoyable air combat
sims ever to have been released."

* HINTS & TIPS *

Here are some more strategy tips for owners of F-22 Lightning II:

Because of some wing-loading physics that are unique to the F-22, your
elevators are less effective at high angles of attack. This makes it
difficult to drop the nose of the aircraft quickly in certain
circumstances. When this occurs, use your rudders instead. Simply roll
90 degrees then kick in your rudder in order to point the nose of the
aircraft at the ground. This maneuver is guaranteed to confuse an enemy
pilot in your "six" because it looks at first like you are preparing for
a horizontal Break.
