Andrea Montermini is a driver who has
competed in nearly all of the World's
major motorsport's championships.

His career began in 1987 when he drove in
Formula Alfa Boxer winning 3 times and
finishing 3rd overall. Next season he
moved to Italian F3 driving a Volkswagen
engined Ralt.

That season produced little but helped him
to learn the style of driving he'd need to
win. The next season saw him take fourth
overall.

In 1990 Andrea moved up to F3000 claiming
pole on his debut at Donington Park. After
a strong season the Scuderia Italia F1
team took him on as official test-driver
for the next year.

In 1991 he moved to the 3001 team and took
2 poles and 2 third places as well as
driving over 12,000 kilometers of testing
for the Ferrari F1 team. 1992 was his best
season so far when he scored 3 poles and 3
wins on his way to second place in the
Championship as well as winning the World
Cup event.

1993 was spent in IndyCars and testing for
Benetton. 1994 saw his final move to F1
with his debut at the Spanish GP with
Simtek.

Tragically this outing ended in a huge
accident where he broke both his feet and
unjustly earned him a tag as one of the
series of drivers unfit to race in F1
(Schumacher himself said that Andrea is a
fast, consistent driver and there's not
better accolade than that).

After recuperating he went back to
IndyCars and finished the season with a
win in the Rally of Monza.
