COMPETITION HISTORY

1984 - "Champion of Brands", riding a
       Yamaha TZ 350cc motorcycle with over
       40 wins.

       First car win (FF1600 Van Diemen
       RF84). Received Special Commendation
       in the Grovewood Awards (later to
       become McLaren-Autosport Awards, the
       most prestigious award for young
       drivers).

1985 - First full FF1600 season, finishing
       3rd in ESSO FF1600 Chamionship and
       5th in Townsend Thoresen FF1600
       Championship with 6 wins. 3rd at
       international Formula Ford Festival. 

1986 - Lucas British Formula 3. Finished
       9th with 1 second place. Winner of
       Rally-Sprint. 

1987 - Lucas British Formula 3. 5th with
       2 wins, 2 poles, 2 second places,
       2 third places and 2 fastest laps. 

1988 - Lucas British Formula 3. 3rd with
       2 wins, 2 poles, 2 second places,
       4 thrid places and one fastest lap.

       2nd in Macau F3 Grand Prix.
       
       2 races in the International Formula
       3000 championship.

1989 - Limited prgram due to finance.
       One race in National F3000 (3rd) and
       one race in British Touring Car
       Chamionship (4th).

       Le Mans in Porsche 962. Invited to
       join Footwork in the International
       F3000 for 6 rounds. Remembering the
       car hadn't previously qualified, he
       qualified for all the races and his
       best finish was 14th.

1990 - International F3000 with
       Middlebridge F3000 team. 3 poles,
       1 second, 2 fastest laps and he led
       5 races.

1991 - F3000 with Middlebridge. 1 third and
       2 fourths. Replaced Mark Blundell as
       Canon Williams test driver.

1992 - Retained as Williams official test
       driver. Races with Brabham in Judd
       powered BT60B. Qualified for
       Silverstone and Hungary in
       underpowered car. Finished 16th and
       11th respectively.

1993 - Canon Williams-Renault team number 2
       next to Alain Prost. Won first Grand
       Prix in FW15C at Hungaroring. 2 more
       consecutive victories in Belgium and
       Italy. Finished 3rd - 69 points in
       FIA World Championship.

1994 - Partner to Ayrton Senna in Rothmans
       Williams-Renault team. After tragic
       death of Senna at Imola took
       heartening victory at Barcelona.

       Won Silverstone (the only race his
       twice World Champion father never
       won), Belgium (Schumacher
       disqualified), Monza, Estoril and
       Japan.

       One point behind Schumacher arriving
       in Adelaide, a contreversial
       collision with Schumacher gave the
       Chamionship to the German. 2nd - 91
       points FIA World Championship. 

1995 - Pole at Brazil but retired with
       suspension problem. 2nd on grid in
       Argentina that led to win.
