                            Manual Uninstall Procedure 


This procedure provides step by step instructions to remove
the application you selected. 


You may want to perform the optional steps listed below prior to 
removing the application you selected.

         o Create a rescue diskette using the Build Rescue Diskette 
           command on the Tools Menu.
         o Backup the application files using your backup software 
           by selecting Backup Software command on the Tools Menu.

= AUTOEXEC.BAT UPDATES =
========================

1. Open the AUTOEXEC.BAT file using the Open AUTOEXEC.BAT 
   command on the Configuration Menu.
2. Make the updates listed below.
     Update SET PATH line
          From: SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\USEFULAP
          To:  SET PATH=%PATH%
3. Save and close the AUTOEXEC.BAT file using commands on the File Menu.
   Do not reboot your computer.

= WIN.INI UPDATES =
===================

1. Open the WIN.INI file using the Open WIN.INI 
   command on the Configuration Menu.
2. Make the updates listed below.


     * Delete File Association 
       Section: [extensions]
       Value and Entry: usa=c:\usefulap\usefulap.exe ^.usa

3. Save and close the WIN.INI file using commands on the File Menu.
   Do not restart Windows.

= REGISTRATION DATABASE (REG.DAT)  DELETIONS =
==============================================


1. Delete the root keys listed below from the Registration Database. Use 
   the registration database editor that is part of Windows. You may access
   this editor by selecting the Run Regedit command on the Configuration Menu.
     Key = .usa

= PROGRAM MANAGER UPDATES =
===========================

1. Delete the Program Manager Groups and Items listed below. To delete an item,
   select the item in your Program Manager and press the <del> key. To delete a
   group that is empty, activate the group and press the <del> key.

     * Delete Program Manager Item
            Group = [My Applications]
            Item =  Useful Application

= FILE DELETIONS =

1. Delete the files listed below at the DOS prompt or
   or using your File Manager.
     C:\USEFULAP\README.TXT
     C:\USEFULAP\SAMPLE1.USA
     C:\WINDOWS\USEFULAP.INI
     C:\USEFULAP\USEFULAP.EXE
     C:\USEFULAP\USEFULAP.HLP
     C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USEAP01.DLL         <<--  User Added Comment: The Software 
     C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USEAP02.DLL         <<--  Manager determined it was safe
     C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USEAP03.CPL         <<--  to delete the shared files in the
     C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USEAP01.VBX         <<--  Windows SYSTEM subdirectory based
     C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USEAP02.VBX         <<--  on several criteria including
                                           <<--  the install log and on the order
                                           <<--  in which applications were installed

1. Delete the directories listed below at the DOS prompt or
   or using your File Manager (if empty).
     C:\USEFULAP
