                        The Ordering/Registration Screen

The registration screen (Shift+F1 in FH's main screen) is an automated
entry system. It will default to different rules if certain fields are
filled a certain way. It will calculate the appropriate BTW or VAT and
shipping and handling costs. After printing (the screen is only a part
of the actual form) you will have a detailed order form, a necessity
if you are a company. Hasoft will always include an invoice in the re-
    gistration package.

This document can be read during ordering/registration via HowTo (F5).

Hint: Hasoft doesn't honor any registrations if name and address are
clearly designed to lead to widespread use of unpaid registered
versions. Always use real names and addresses in these fields.

The registration screen is generally self-explanatory, but some fields
may need specific information, which you can find below.

    Ordering includes the following:

o NAME/ADDRESS. Enter your name in "LAST, FIRST" format. If you are a
company, enter its name at the 'Name' heading. IF YOU USE A CREDIT
CARD, ENTER THE NAME *EXACTLY* AS IT IS NOTED ON THE CARD!

o LICENSE. Choose the type of license you need. Read about licenses in
the file VENDINFO.DIZ, and choose the one that describes you.

Info Request is not a license, you can use it to ask or tell some-
      thing without ordering.

o SYSTEMS. The price for a site license depends on the number of sys-
tems your company has. For example, fill in 10 systems if you have
10 or less, but more than 5. Usually, there are more systems close
together, so users can share a manual; you don't need one for every
      system.

o CONTACT. As a company, you need to appoint somebody to handle inter-
nal support. This person takes care of ALL support calls to Hasoft.
This is to prevent individual users from taking up support time for
the same problems over and over again. Place his/her name in the
'Contact' field, including a direct phone and fax number. This field
doubles as the Group name field for group licenses.

o E-MAIL. Enter your full e-mail address here. Companies should use
this field for the address of their Contact person.

o BTW/VAT. See 'Mail area' below for the meaning of this field. This
field is only visible if it is appropriate in the context of what
you've entered in other fields. Basically, residents of the European
Unity must pay this tax. The proper amount will be added automati-
      cally by the ordering/registration system.

o PAY WITH. Choose a method of payment. Don't send cheques drawn on a
bank outside the Netherlands, it will be very expensive for me to
cash them. Instead, ask your bank to transfer the total amount due
directly to Hasoft's account, at either bank in the menu. Or use any
      other method open to you.

Some forms of payment are less expensive than others. Your bank can
charge a fee for the transfer. Don't subtract that amount from the
total amount due. The total amount on the order form includes all of
Hasoft's costs (Free On Board). In some countries, customs may re-
quest some form of import tax from you, that you'll pay later. See
      Customs below.

EUROGIRO: Holders of a giro account in many European countries, and
Japan, can pay through a service called Eurogiro.

TRAVELERS-CHEQUES: Treat as if cash; choose cash in the 'Pay with'
field and the correct currency in the 'Currency' field. Since tra-
velers-cheques are not available in small denominations, you have to
round the amount off to the next whole figure fitting the cheques.

      Customs

Your distribution package will be accompanied by -if required- some
sort of customs form. The total value of the contents will be split
up in Disk/Book/Intellectual Property License. Chances are that you
will only be charged by your customs for the diskette and/or book.
The license (major value) itself is usually not taxable.

International money orders can be slow. You can get one at the post
office. Fill in the amount in NLG; you will pay the current exchange
rate. Write down the number of the money order on the order form at
the 'Document number' heading. This will make aligning your order
with the payment, later on, much easier.

o CURRENCY. Credit card companies expect payments to The Netherlands
to be in Dutch (or Netherlands) Guilders (NLG). Some other methods
may lead to charges for Hasoft for the currency exchange. Therefore
NLG is mandatory for all forms of payment, except cash.

Make sure you do include 'NLG' with the amount or tell your bank the
currency is in NLG (NetherLands Guilder).

Cash payments can be made in various types of currency. The regi-
stration screen has a built in list of exchange rates. Pick any type
from the list - you might have some left from a visit abroad. See
below for ways to send money. These (fixed) rates are based on expe-
rience from the past. Future releases of the shareware version will
      be adjusted when necessary.

o MAIL AREA. Hasoft is required to charge private persons a sales tax
(BTW/VAT) if they live in the European Unity. E.U. based companies
(except Netherlands) will be charged a 0% tariff if they enter their
BTW/VAT number in the appropriate field.

Private persons may not use the BTW/VAT field to lower their price.
Hasoft is required to inform the proper authorities if your BTW/VAT
      number is suspect.

The 'Mail area' is also used to calculate the costs of shipping and
      handling.

o SHIPPING. This option will influence the cost of shipping and the
time it takes for the parcel to reach you. For instance, air mail
usually will take 7 days to the USA, surface mail at least 20. Ex-
press mail will maybe gain you a day or so. Overnight delivery will
cost more than the registration plus costs for Express mail, so it's
      not in the list.

o ACCOUNT/CARD/DOCUMENT NUMBER. This field's heading will change
according to the type of payment. Filling in Credit card-, Document-
or Account number will speed up delivery. It'll serve as a reference
to align your order form with your payment.

o REMARKS/QUESTIONS. Use this area to enter any remarks or questions
you have. See 'Info request' above, and the remarks section below.

o Print this form by pressing F3. You have the option of printing it
to a file ORDER.TXT. This file can than be processed in any way, but
faxing it from file will prevent you from signing it!

Remark : Print one extra copy for your own reference if you mail the
               form instead of faxing it.

Warning: Don't change the layout of the form, and don't fill it out
by hand. The validation code will be corrupted, so the form
cannot be processed with a scanner.

o It's mandatory that you sign this form. By signing you agree to have
read and understood the terms of the license, so please read the
file VENDINFO.DIZ carefully before signing. Signing is also required
if you pay with a credit card. Without your signature, the registra-
tion package will NOT be sent before the money clears. International
money transfers can take a while to reach me.

o Send this form to Hasoft. The form is designed to fit most window
envelopes, simply fold the form as many times as needed.

Some forms of payment require you to enclose a document, one just
plain cash. If neither of these is the case, you can fax the form
(24 hours per day) to Hasoft, no need sending it, and it will speed
      up delivery considerably.

In case of sending cash or other valuable non-replaceble document(s)
consider sending the envelope by some form of registered or certi-
fied mail. If it gets lost in the mail, I won't register you without
valid proof of sending money or something else.

If you really want to send money in a plain envelope -not registered
or certified- the risk is totally yours. Make sure the money is
INSIDE the folded order form so it does not show through the envelo-
pe. Please don't send coins, this of course means you have to round
up to the next whole amount.

Don't forget to put a stamp on the envelope, and send it by air, if
      appropriate.

Warning: The order screen can be filled in any order, BUT some
fields will adjust other fields if you are changing op-
tions at random. Check all fields once you're done.

Remark : Hasoft reserves the right to refuse registrations in spe-
cial circumstances. If you live in a country Hasoft may
not do business with like Iraq, or if your currency is not
worth the paper it's printed on, or if exporting to your
country is very expensive, etc, etc. If you expect such a
case, please send me an Info Request form, tell me what
you think is the problem, and ask me for an offer.

Note : Allow 2-6 weeks for delivery. Your order form has to reach
me, the package has to be brought to you by mail, some
methods of payment need more time, printing extra manuals
takes longer than expected, customs delay, etc.

                        CompuServe Ordering/Registration

If you have a CompuServe account, you can order File_Handle directly
from the Shareware Registration Database. This will only work for a
single 'Customer' license; use File_Handle's built in ordering/reg-
istration screen for Group or Site licenses.

To order via CompuServe you must take the following steps:

    1. GO SWREG

    2. Enter the global area your mail address is located in. This is used
to calculate the shipping and handling costs.

    3. Enter the number 7618 in the "Registration ID" field. The program
       name is FHD.ZIP.

    4. Complete the steps as indicated by the service; name, address, etc.

    5. CompuServe charges the program plus shipping and handling to your
account, and emails your order directly to Hasoft.

    6. No need to use File_Handle's order screen for this purchase.

                              Remarks/Questions

For making a remark, or asking a question WITHOUT ORDERING, choose the
'Info request' option in the License field.

The 'Remarks' section is added so registrants (including potential re-
gistrants) can share their experience with the program, tell me where
it goes wrong, typos in the documentation, etc. To give you a general
idea about what I expect from you, here are a number of examples:

Site Discounts - Many Computers or (LAN) Server

If your company has many stand-alone computer systems or a network,
then you'll need a so-called 'Site License' for the number of systems
your company has. This is less expensive than purchasing a Customer or
    Group license.

After ordering you will receive a single disk containing the latest
revision, and a key file so your companies name is on the main screen.
You also receive a manual for each five users.

See the registration screen for specifics. Choose the 'Site' option in
the License field, and then the correct number of 'Systems' for volume
and pricing. If your company has more sites or servers, you'll need a
    license for each of them.

See the file VENDINFO.DIZ for the license terms and support policy.

If you want a different arrangement contact me for an offer.

                               Group Discounts

If at least 5 individuals send in their order/registration as a single
unit, they are eligible for a group discount.

For units less than 5 YOU STILL SAVE MONEY, because shipping and hand-
ling a single, although larger, package is more economical than many
    separate ones.

                            Number of Discount
                            Registrants Rate

                              2- 4 = 0%
                              5- 9 = 5%
                             10-14 = 10%
                             15-19 = 15%
                             20-24 = 20%
                             25-49 = 25%
                             50-99 = 30%
                            100-Up = 35%

    The rules are:

o A company is not considered a group, or vice-versa.

o All members of a group order together, at the same time. No one can
be added to the group at a later time; not with the same revision,
anyway. Form a 'new' group with the same name, in this case.

o A group needs a name to identify it. Lets say, you are the 'Wolves'.

o Appoint a group administrator, to do (most of) the work.

o All group members, except the administrator, fill in a Group Member
license and enter 'Wolves' in the 'Group name' field. All members
and the Administrator need to fill in their own name and address.

o The administrator collects all order forms, and he will then:

o Choose a 'Group Administrator' license.
Enter 'Wolves' in the 'Group name' field.
Fill in the method of payment, currency, mail area, etc.

o Fill in the size of the group in the 'Members' field.

o Do any negotiations (if any) with Hasoft on behalf of the group.

o Send all order forms in a single envelope to Hasoft. His own order
        form first on the stack.

o Take care of payment for the whole group.

o Distribute the disks and manuals to the group, after arrival.

o Each member of the group will receive his own disk, manual and key-
      file, and also an invoice.

See the file VENDINFO.DIZ for the license terms and support policy.

                           Test Site (Beta Testing)

If you volunteer to do some beta testing on a future version, please
make a note of this in the remarks section. You must be a registered
or registering user to even be considered. You must use File_Handle
    regularly (read: daily).

Write down any special equipment you have, special skills or fields of
    interest.

    Sign the order form.

To be a beta tester means:

o That you will get new (BETA) versions much earlier.

o That you will not hold Hasoft responsible for any damages coming
      from this arrangement.

o That you will scrupulously test the new release(s), and report any
      findings back to Hasoft.

o You get the resulting official release at no charge, but only if you
produce a report of some quality within the requested time span.

o You get the wording 'Designated Beta Test Site' on the main screen.

Your offer to be a beta tester will not automatically mean you will be
selected though. Hasoft reserves the right to select beta testers, and
for what reason. You are appointed as a test site only for the dura-
tion of one version, or one special case.

If you are selected as a test site, you get a request to test a speci-
fic area or part of the program. If you do agree to accept this as-
signment, you will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you
    get the beta release.

Don't think of this as a cheap or easy way of getting a free copy. I
do expect you to shed blood, sweat and tears, not to mention utter
foul language, if and when appropriate.
