extremely constant and is almost equal to 600 kB/s, the nominal speed of
a 4x drive.

These are the results of a 20x CLV/CAV drive.  As you can see, it quickly
reaches its maximum speed and then keeps it approximatively constant.
If you compare these results with the previous ones you see that a 20x
CLV/CAV drive is better than a 24x pure CAV one even if the latter has
an higher maximum speed.  Also the access time of this drive is very good.

These are the results of another CLV/CAV drive.  It's a 2x/6x CD Recorder
with 1 MB of cache memory.  The results on the right were obtained with a
long delay (/D=3000) to let the cache fill completely.  As you can see, a
huge cache greatly increases performance (+21%).  The access time is very
high: it's not an important feature for a CD-R.
