Bome's Mouse Keyboard V1.01
===========================

Welcome to Bome's Mouse Keyboard !

OVERVIEW
========
Use this program to control your midi devices without having a real keyboard -
for example you can play the internal synth of your sound card. With a virtual
midi cable (for example Hubis Loopback Device) you can play any sequences into
your sequencer or route your external synthesizer through the chord- maker of
Bome's Mouse Keyboard. Additionally you can define as many knobs as you want and
control with them any midi controller.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
===================
	Windows 95/98/NT
	Some kind of MIDI connection

POSTCARDWARE
============

Bome's Mouse Keyboard is PostcardWare. Like that you are free to use it. When
you want the initial Postcardware Reminder to disappear, send me a _real_
postcard. As soon as I received your postcard (write your email address on it !)
I will send you your registration code by email.

Send the postcard of your place to Florian Bomers, Colmarer Str.11,
28211 Bremen, Germany.

INSTALLATION
============
1. Unzip the zip file (if not already done)
2. Copy all files in one directory, e.g. C:\MouseKeyboard
3. Start the program by double-clicking MouseKeyboard

QUICK START
===========
1. Select a midi out device in the menu. Everything that you
   play will be output to that midi device.
2. Now you can already play: press the mouse keys on the keyboard
   keys. A right click will play the note until you play another
   note. When you let the right mouse button pressed, you can alter
   the pitch/modulation by moving the mouse horizontally/vertically.
   Once you have focused the mouse keyboard, you can also use your
   computer keyboard to play.
3. Adjust the size of the keyboard by
   - resizing the window
   - changing the base note
   - adjust the key width
3. Change the chord and play: Ahhh !
4. To find a good program, start a note with the right mouse button
   and then change the program number - it will replay your note for
   each new program so it's made easy browsing through the programs.
   The same applies to the bank numbers. For these, look up your
   documentation of your midi device.
5. Change the volume with the volume knob. You can add more knobs in
   the menu Options|Settings.

ADVANCED FUNCTIONALITY
======================

When you have a real keyboard connected to your computers midi port, select this
as midi in and check the menu Options|Midi thru. Like this the keys you play on
the real keyboard are visualized on the mouse keyboard and the note and any
chords you selected are routed to the midi out device.

In the settings you can redefine the slider's controller numbers, define/change
knob settings and the type of note display. You save a preset by entering a name
in the combo box and hitting on "Save preset".

Knob presets are stored in the file "Knobs.ini" in the installation directory of
Bome's Mouse Keyboard. When you have made some good knob presets (e.g. for
certain soundcards or synths), send me this file and I can integrate your
presets in the distribution archive.

To use several mouse keyboards at once (with their own settings and knobs)
create a copy of MouseKeyboard.exe under a new name, e.g. SynthKeyb.exe.
SynthKeyb will then use its own set of settings (except Knob Presets).

DISTRIBUTION
============
Bome's Mouse Keyboard may be distributed freely. Please write me a
short email when you write a review of Bome's Mouse Keyboard.
