Delphi 2.0 Readme for Visual Basic and C++ Programmers
             =====================================================

Welcome to Delphi 2.0. Delphi offers developers the unique combination of
RADical productivity, compiled performance, and seamless database scalability.

This version of Delphi includes a special directory of productivity tools for
Visual Basic and C++ programmers. Delphi is the perfect productivity tool for
C++ developers, offering quick, visual prototyping and UI building with the
performance you expect from a compiler. You can even host Delphi forms in C++.

For Visual Basic programmers, Delphi offers the performance of a native code
compiler with a powerful visual development environment.
Delphi can be used with Visual Basic, or as a replacement to Visual Basic.
Visual Basic programmers can use Delphi to speed performance of their
applications by using Delphi's native code compiler to create reusable
DLLs. For further information about using Visual Basic and Delphi together,
refer to the documents listed below. This package includes several tools to
simplify the Delphi learning process for Visual Basic programmers. View the
following document and help file in the \VB\ directory:

VB2DELPH.DOC - Moving from VB to Delphi a technical discussion

VBDELPHI.HLP - Complete Online reference of Visual Basic commands,
their Delphi equivalents, keystroke mappings, and
                       component mappings for both products.

\CODE\ - Sample Delphi applications based on the Visual
Basic Sample files. A discussion of the samples
                       can be found in VB2DELP.DOC.

Information and instructions for using Delphi with C++ are
included in the \VB_CHELP\CPP\ directory:

README.TXT - Details about the files and examples for C++ programmers.
BC5_D2.DOC - Sharing Code and Objects between Delphi and C++
BC360.HTM - HTML version of Sharing Code and Objects document.
    BC360.PPT - the PowerPoint slides
\CODE\ - Directory containing example code for the above document
D2_CPP.DOC - Application development with Borland C++ and Delphi

For all programmers new to Delphi, we have included a multimedia computer
based training program. To install the Introduction to Delphi curriculum
from NIIT, please launch SETUP.EXE in \NIITCBT\:
